Dahlings, I'm glad to be here. I'm M'abelle, and I'm 43 years old, and I live with my paramour, who I shall simply refer to as B. He's 32, blond in the Robert Redford style, and richer than kings. And I love him dearly.
I don't live in Abidjan, Cote D'Ivoire all year round, it's simply loaded with bugs in the summer months, not to mention a few testy Muslisms, but I consider it my spiritual home in a way that the country of my birth (dreary old England) never could be. B. and I fly out here for several weeks at a time, and dawn in the Cote D'Ivoire is utterly unlike dawn anywhere else. There is much political strife in this country at present, but we still manage to sneak down to our little hideaway on a semi-regular basis.
Before I met B., I kept the books for a gentleman's clothing store back at home in London. I also had a small inheritance from my dearly departed parents, so I have always been a lady of leisure.
I matriculated at Oxford over twenty years ago in literature and criticism, and had a marvellous time doing so. I love doing book reviews, but they don't pay well enough to keep a girl like me happy. Now that B. and I are together, however, I occasionally fire one off upon request.
I am a relaxed and happy woman, who enjoys a fulfilling life with the man of her dreams. I miss my old friends from Oxford days dreadfully, and I have little patience for the people we have to associate with for the sake of B.'s work, so my biggest problem is loneliness.
I'm hoping that keeping a journal will alleviate some of this. I hope you enjoy it as well.
